I am Cat

On the beach today, some peace of mind for a broken heart.
Yesterday I buried Maurice, my beloved cat. Today I worked on the first painting for my new book called 'I am Cat', which will be dedicated to all the cats who have walked through life with me and those yet to come.

  2. how very fitting,, should be good healing salve for that torn heart,, maybe a few tears will mix with paint at times but its all good. You are in my thoughts,, to be honest I've thought of this all day,, I've been in your position (having to bury my dear cats)and although the hardest of lifes duties I would want no one else to do but me.I owed each one of them that. You are a good friend to your feline clan.

  4. My heart goes out to you - as a pet owner and catlover and owner I read this with tears. If you can get hold of a copy of Ian McKewan's "The Daydreamer" read the chapter on "Thomas the Cat. Dxxx

  5. The painting of Pixie is beautiful, this next book will be very special.
I once asked the Czech glass artist Dana Zamecnikova where she found her inspiration, she replied -
"Where else can we put all the fears, joys, sadness, frustrations & wonders but in the art?"
    Vale Maurice

  10. It seems you've been burying far too many cats recently. I was over reading the cat blog last night and was struck by how many times recently I've been sad at learning of another one of your friends passing on. It seems Maurice is especially hard. Thinking of you. When I was waking up this morning, the image of Maurice on that polka dot blanket that went so well with his eyes popped into my memory. Deep peace to you.

  11. I am so sorry Maurice has passed on, Jackie. Lucciano was buried on Friday last. A sad time in our cat world, but we know we helped them to have good, long lives. Cat lives are never long enough, though, and three is so very much fewer than five. Thank you for telling us of Maurice's passing.

  12. Jackie, I have also been thinking about what Valerianna wrote, that you have said goodbye to far too many dear friends, lately, and I am so
sorry. No better place to absorb what happens to us and then to start living with it
than your beach and hills, nearby.

  15. I do a thing with photos and poetry on my other blog http://grundlepodmark2.blogspot.com/ I would like your permission to do something with your beach photo above. You would, of course, get full copyright credit for the photo. You can email me if you'd rather.

  16. Please go ahead Wol. Always good to see what people do with your work. I love the way the stone echoes the circle in the painting. It seemed pillowed in water on the cold beach.
