One Cheetah, Nine Cherries
When I started this painting, months ago, I thought it was called 'One Cheetah, Eight Cherries'. It lay on the drawing board for a long time, something not quite right, until I picked it up yesterday, moved a paw, added a cherry and then it became 'Mine'. I have seen Elmo look at me like that when he has a mouse by the tail.
Yesterday and today
Yesterday was: walking by wind wrinkled sea, bluebells, squill, birdsong, stonechats, painting lions, takeaway fish and chips in the van looking out on fishing boats at Porthgain, jackdaws with coal black caps and bead blue eyes.
Today is: painting lions and gilding a cheetah, thinking of teapots and tigers, Japanese screens and tarot cards, calendars and stickers.
(18 month calendar, starting in July for 2011-2012, available from July with words and images. There will be cheetahs and cherries and bears and maybe dragons. They will be limited editions.)
