Mud, ice, birds, rain, time.
On the second day I realised that I still had my phone on silent. It rang. It was Adam and he said he had things I could go and draw on, so I called in and there were rows of small jars and mugs. He gave me some to play with, more tomorrow. Time to experiment. He is firing in the next few days.
Outside the studio I found some ice to photograph.
Back home I have work to do and outside the rain in playing on the roof.

Drawing on clay is a trip! Ask Adam if he'll put some engobe on pots for you to scratch through... have to go slow or it gets jerkey, but I like the primitive feel. Ageless decoration, I think.
ReplyDeleteI like the doves or pigeons in their nice little nooks in the rock fence.
ReplyDeleteFor some unexplicable reason the photo of the pigeons resting in the rock wall brought on a flood of tears-so special.
ReplyDeleteohhh that looks like a liver and white springer!
ReplyDeleteThe pigeons were in Haverfordwest in an old wall. There are hundreds of them in the wharehouses on the waterfront. I think it is something to do with the way they were watching the camera.
ReplyDeleteIf someone offered me those to paint on I would think I'd died and gone to heaven!Lucky lucky you!Lovely photos,,,,Laurie from Canada
ReplyDeleteThe photo of Adam looks as though he's been overcome with emotion -- but probably just an itch. (I love the texture he's put on the Moon Jar in the right of the picture.) Isn't it always the way --when you get your hands messy, your nose itches! Do they leave gaps in the wall on purpose? Seems that small critters like birds could use them to get out of the wind and weather. After you've drawn on the pots, what happens next? Do photograph a "done" one for us, please!
ReplyDeleteI always like seeing the photos of your workspace. And I like that effect you got on the woman's green dress. Wish I could see one of your paintings in person, as I imagine that they are even far richer and evenmore beautiful than we see in the photos.
