New Year's Day

New year. Yesterday painting for A Rhyme in Time, today for House of Golden Dreams, which will be a year old on 6th January, painting and gilding. Earlier, walking, past the great highland cows and the ponies with their dark eyes and velvet noses. We found a place where a fox had made a small feast of a songbird.

  2. Happy New Year to you, wishing you peace and prosperity, as well as the continuing inspiration you give to us with your words and art. It is fascinating following the process. Robin.

  4. Happy New Year!
I worked on New Year's day, too, but only til 4 pm. Then a friend since middle school came over and stayed until after midnight, and we had munchies and watched DVD's, and played with kitties and laughed a lot. It was a good day and a good way to start the new year.

  5. Happy New Year, may it bring the peace to paint and the space for inspiration.

I love the ships (am a sucker for pictures of tall ships); but more than this I love the sky and sea. Can I ask do you mask the foreground when you paint in the background features?

    All the best, Charlotte

  6. I don't use any masking at all Charlotte, just a steady hand.

  7. Gosh,I am in awe of your talent, I guess I need to practice more as I nearly always paint sky onto something that shouldn't be part of the sky.

  8. I do that too, but the wash is usualy light and I build it in layers and sometimes I wash it off. Watercolour can be very forgiving sometimes.
