Dragons and birds and thoughts that fly.

Walking early with Kiffer and the dogs over the hill. Kiffer walks like a dog, so close at heel he trips you, then bounding ahead. On the edge of hearing, lapwing calls. A flock of lapwings in my mind and then I look up. I count, eight, nine, ten. Rooks, not lapwings. It is good to remember before Christmas that you can't always get what you wish for. Hoping for a peaceful day with my children, a dog walk and some snow. And lapwings.
In my head, small gold hares, running.
In the post, a red dragon.

  1. Love the cover Jackie!

And thank you for introducing me to Robin Hobb books. I love her work!! I am now on my second read of the Assasin's Apprentice trilogy.

I'm holidng out for both Dragon books to be out in the US before starting on them. I want to read them one right after the other!

  2. You need to read the Liveships series first, Amy. Out of all of the covers I have done for these books I think this is the strongest. I know that some people don't like them because they don't have that 'look' that fantasy fiction books have, but I am so lucky to have been able to work on them. I introduced all of my friends to them too, though they were put off reading them at first by the old covers. Now they have read them, re-read and read again!
And I have been lucky enough to have been sent the first Anne McCaffrey book, Dragonflight, and can feel a whole new dragon world opening up.

  3. Yes...I did read the Liveship series although not until after I had read the tawny man books...I wish I had read them in between but on my second go thru I will.

I have to say I really love the covers...the others looked a little like romance novels to me LOL!

Can't wait to see a peek of what your whole new dragon world looks like!

  4. I love that dragon!

Does this mean that the long wait for the next visit to one of my favourite realm is soon to be over? I've been eagerly waiting for this book since I finished the last sentence of Dragon Keeper.
