Opening

At 2pm Adam began to take away the bricks, one by one to reveal shining pots. The kiln was still warm as an oven. Inside the pots sang, tinkling like a music box.

It was the small pots, porcelain, that sang so beautifully as they cooled. Magic.

  1. Magic indeed! Beautiful magic, and so blue on speckled earth ground. Good fire!

  2. I think they turned out lovely, especially the hares and the moon one and the cheetah with a bird on. I like the shape of the mugs, and I love the moon jars.

  5. I looked forward to this opening all week!!! Adam's wares are lovely--his moon pots are very special-I particularly like the small globes-just right to caress with both hands. What did you think about your pots?-loved the little peeks you gave us-so far the hares are my favorite. Was a potter many years ago before I became a physician-the love of working clay with my hands has never died-though I can no longer throw I live through other peoples works. Would love to see more.

  7. I have very much enjoyed these posts on the firing of the moonjars! Totally absorbing. Your drawings are a perfect fit for the jars. Thank you for showing all of this!

  8. None are for sale yet as part of the reason Adam did mugs was because Ailsa and I nagged him to. We had broken all of ours. But I hope we will do more, and play with glazes and maybe work on big dishes and paly with different lustres and different lines. The scarffito ones still have to be fired.
Not sure if Adam is keeping all of his so might be worth emailing him from his site but I doubt Ailsa will let any go.

  12. Such beauty from such common clay. There is philosophy as well as art and craft here.

  15. You will be able to Val. Am going to talk to Adam about next firing and maybe make to order, as much as you can with hand drawn work.
Takes ages to build up enough for a kiln so won't be firing before February/ March. But so hard to get Adam to make mugs. Takes combined effort of me and Ailsa nagging him until his ears bleed from our bleating!
